Belize captures the prestigious World Travel Awards for 2015.
At the 22nd Annual World Travel Awards held in Bogota Colombia
over the weekend, Belize captured two of the prestigious World Travel
Awards 2015 in categories for Mexico & Central America’s Leading
Beach Destination 2015 – Placencia and Mexico & Central America’s
Leading Destination 2015 – Ambergris Caye.
World Travel Awards™
was established in 1993 to acknowledge, reward and celebrate excellence
across all sectors of the tourism industry. Today, the World Travel
Awards™ brand is recognized globally as the ultimate hallmark of
quality, with winners setting the benchmark to which all others aspire.
Each year World Travel Awards™ covers the globe with a series of
regional gala ceremonies staged to recognize and celebrate individual
and collective successes within each key geographical region.
Nominees were selected during a six months period by the World
Travel Awards advisory committee, which consists of more than 2,700
media titles and influential tourism figureheads. The short-list was
then published and the global industry, as well as travel consumers,
were asked to vote for whom they deemed were the best in each category.
The Belize Tourism Board (BTB) in a release
issued on October 11th, 2015, expressed that they were extremely proud
and excited to announce that for the first time in the 22 years history
of the World Travel Awards, Belize has won the two biggest Travel Oscars for the Continent.
